Brittany founded Halifax Counselling and Wellness after seeing how deeply people in Atlantic Canada were looking for something different in mental health care. After nine years working in social work, and after creating Moncton Counselling and Wellness in 2021, she wanted to bring that same warm, thoughtful approach to clients in Halifax. Her vision was simple. Therapy should feel human. The clinic should feel like a place where people can come in, take a breath, and feel like their voice has room to exist.

Brittany’s Background

Brittany opened her first clinic, Moncton Counselling and Wellness in 2021. The response from the community confirmed what she had hoped for. When therapy feels modern, real and welcoming, people are more willing to reach out for support. The clinic grew as more clients connected with this kind of environment and as more therapists joined the practice.

Making therapy accessible has always been central to her work. In early 2022, during the strain of the pandemic, she created a lower fee counselling program so that more people could access support. This commitment to reducing barriers continues to shape how she leads both clinics.

In 2025, with a strong foundation in Moncton, Brittany opened Halifax Counselling and Wellness to extend this supportive environment to another community. Her leadership across the mental health landscape in Atlantic Canada has been recognized through awards such as the Chamber of Moncton’s Top 20 Under 40 in 2024 and Atlantic Business Magazine’s Top 20 Under 30 in 2023.

Her Approach

Brittany believes therapy works best when it feels honest and human. She values real conversation more than clinical language. Clients should feel that they can show up as they are without pressure to present a certain version of themselves. Sessions are a place for curiosity, understanding, and gentle challenge rather than judgment.

Even as a founder, she stays closely connected to the heart of the work. She pays careful attention to how the clinic feels, how the team shows up with clients, and what the overall experience is like from first contact to ongoing sessions. She believes that when the environment feels safe and grounded, deeper healing can begin.

What Matters To Her

For Brittany, the most meaningful part of her work is creating spaces where people feel understood and supported. She cares about the small but important moments. When someone finally feels comfortable enough to share something they have never said out loud. When a client leaves a session feeling even a little lighter or more hopeful than when they arrived.

She believes everyone deserves a place where they can explore their emotions, their history, and their current struggles without feeling alone in it. Halifax Counselling and Wellness is one of the ways she lives out that belief in this community.
